Overview
This pleasant ride gives the cyclist a fantastic sampling of the countryside in Hoi An, meandering through rice paddies, across rivers, and through small villages. The riding is flat but what you see on your saddle is rewarding.
Itinerary
Following a small quiet path, bike south-west on flat terrain through the countryside near Hoi An. Your first stop at a fishing Village offers a great view of the harbor, woven boats and an overview at the local fishery. Continue to a nearby vegetable village. After learning about the traditional farming techniques, slide on small country roads, passing shrimp farms, rice fields, lush villages and old temples.
Cruise on Thu Bon River to Cam Kim Island and find out how locals catch fish with different kind of traps. Continue to cycle to Duy Vinh to enjoy the scenic views of water palms, canals, rivers and farms. Pop into a traditional wood boat building yard, then a sedge field to learn about turning sedge leaves into colorful mats before visiting a craft family to experience the traditional process of making rice paper.
