Vietnam, with its lush countryside and vibrant culture, is a cyclist’s paradise. From the charming town of Hoi An to the imperial city of Hue, pedal through the picturesque rice paddies, cycle along the stunning coastline, and challenge yourself on the winding roads of Hai Van Pass.
But the cycle Vietnam Cambodia adventure doesn’t stop there. Continue to bike in Cambodia, steeped in ancient history and dotted with awe-inspiring temples.

Itinerary
DAY 01: RURAL EXPERIENCE

Starting the ride in a peaceful village, you will ride on narrow country roads through rice fields, farms and villages.

Take a boat ride cross Thu Bon River to an Islet. Continuously explore the scenic countryside with palm shaded villages along the river where you can learn how locals earn their livings with handicrafts such as wood carving, rice paper making, sleeping mat weaving, etc. and farming.

Following narrow concrete roads, to the coast and ride along the coast with views of fishing villages, fish markets, and daily life activities of fishermen and farmers living along the beach.

Cross the estuary of Thu Bon River back to Hoi an.

DAY 02: HO CHI MINH TRAILS (B, L)

Starting off on country roads southwest of Da Nang, you will be surrounded by lush villages, farms, and meandering rivers. The peaceful countryside will give you a glimpse into everyday life in Vietnam.

You will pass through spectacular mountain views, crooked passes, and hill-tribe hamlets. The scenery will change drastically as you ascend towards the village, with rocky streams and dense forests lining the route. Stopover at a Ka Tu village to interact with the locals and learn about their colorful ethnic culture and warm hospitality.

The most challenging stretch of the journey is the 8-km steep winding road towards Kieng Mountain Peak.

DAY 03: HAI VAN PASS–LAP AN LAGOON- LANG CO (B, L)

• Duration 7 - 8 hours

• Route description 10 km uphill (approx. 10%), 10Km downhill, the rest is flat
• Meals Lunch

Starting on the beach with easy biking in warm, fresh air, this journey will take you through picturesque fishing villages with pristine beaches, traditional wooden boats and an immersion in the fishing life of local villagers.

But the real highlight of this journey comes when you reach the 10-kilometer steep ride up to the summit of Hai Van Pass. As you make your way up the winding road, the views become more and more breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of the sparkling sea and towering mountains.

After enjoying a coffee break and the sights from the summit, get ready for an exciting downhill ride to Lang Co, then embark on a 10 km slide along the edge of the scenic Lap An Lagoon.

Your trip will end with a delicious lunch on the beach of Lang Co.

DAY 04: LANG CO – TAM GIANG LAGOON – HUE (B, L)

• Route description 20% hilly winding passes & 80% flat

Start your journey on a quiet coastal road, surrounded by breathtaking views of mountains, fishing villages and forests. As you pedal along the winding path, you'll encounter short hills that challenge both your legs and your senses.

Continue your journey to Tu Hien Bridge, a picturesque spot where a massive lagoon is connected to the ocean.

Pedaling along the side of Tam Giang lagoon, you will have the opportunity to dismount and visit with the friendly local people. Engage in conversations with villagers and learn about their daily lives, traditions, and customs.

Hop aboard a traditional boat to cross the scenic Thuy Tu lagoon, where you'll slide on gentle rolling terrain across charming bridges, past beautiful villages and ancient temples.

Overnight in Hue

DAY 05: HUE IMPERIAL CITY (B, L)

• Route description 70% flat & 30% hilly

Start with a leisurely ride to the Imperial Citadel and marvel at the grandeur of the ancient walls and gates that once housed the emperors of Vietnam.

Venture into the old quarter situated on the side of the imperial enclosure. Meander through mossy tiled-roof villages adorned with lush gardens, ancient architecture, and tranquil canals.

Continue riding along the romantic Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the most significant Buddhist sites in Hue. Then cross the river to Thuy Bieu Pomelo Village, where you will slide around the village to explore the traditional cultivation of pomelo, old houses, temples, and local life.

Visit a local home for a traditional Hue-style lunch. Indulge in authentic dishes, sip on herbal tea, and engage in conversation with the warm and welcoming host family. Then treat yourself to a foot soak in a basin of soothing herbal infusion for relaxation, and try your hand at making sesame candies with the family.

Transfer back to Da Nang.

DAY 06: DA NANG – SIEM RIEP, CAMBODIA

Flight to Siem Riep. Pick up and transfer to hotel.

DAY 07: CYCLE TO THE ANGKOR TEMPLES (30KM) (B&L)

Cycle to Ta Prohn, a temple in the Angkor Complex left in a state of beautiful decay, with jungle trees and vines growing over its stone walls and crumbling structures. Then, cycle to the ancient city of Angkor Thom through the impressive stone gate adorned with intricate carvings of elephants and giant faces.

Your first stop in Angkor Thom is the iconic Bayon Temple, known for its enigmatic faces that represent the 54 provinces of the empire.

Next, make your way to the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, both of which are renowned for their intricate bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Khmer mythology and history.

Finally, you will ride to the gem of the Angkor complex, Angkor Wat. As you follow our knowledgeable guide, you will be mesmerized by the rich history and symbolism of this unique ancient temple.

Overnight Siem Riep

DAY 08: CYCLE TO BANTEAY SAMRE, KBAL SPEAN & BANTEAY SREI (60KM) (B&L)

Our journey begins on unpaved roads, leading us through picturesque landscapes and vibrant communities to Banteay Srei, an ancient temple built out of pink sandstone with elaborate carvings and unique architecture.

The highlight today is Kbal Spean, one of the earlier Hindu sites in Cambodia. You will embark on a moderate 3 km trek uphill through dense jungle where you will be rewarded with the scenic views over the plains and Kulen hills, and amazed by the "River of 1,000 Lingas," a sacred site adorned with intricate Hindu stone carvings.

Continue rolling on peaceful narrow country roads to Bantey Srei, known as the Citadel of Women, passing villages, schools, temple and local markets.

Overnight in Siem Riep

DAY 09: CYCLE KOMPONG PHLUK - ROLUOS GROUP (40KM) (B&L)

Starting your day with a peaceful ride to Tonle Sap is the perfect way to embrace the beauty and culture of Siem Reap. As you journey through the small villages, you can immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere and enjoy the gentle rustling of the trees in the breeze. Stop at a local market to experience the vibrant sights, sounds, and smells of the bustling community.

En route to Kampong Phluk, keep an eye out for the unique floating villages. The communities there have adapted to the dramatic rise and fall of the Tonle Sap, with water levels fluctuating up to 9 meters.

As you run to Roluos Group, uncover the secrets of the lesser-known temples dating back to the pre-Angkor era.

Return to Siem Riep to end your amazing cycling Vietnam and Cambodia trip.
